3 million blog views

Today we reached another milestone – three million blog views – and funnily enough this comes exactly a year to the day when we reached two million.

Many thanks to everyone who supports this blog, whether by reading, commenting, contributing or sharing.

Here’s a reminder of why we do it. This image is of a young golden eagle in the Cairngorms National Park, photographed (by the RSPB) in 2006. It had been illegally poisoned. It epitomises everything in its pitiful, poignant, senselessness and could have been photographed this morning.

We hope you’ll stay with us and help raise even more awareness and campaign even harder to bring this to an end.

  1. Congratulations on your remarkable milestone. Like many others, I regularly share your posts on FB & twitter. Mostly they reach fellow birdwatchers but they also seep out to my non-birding friends who are often shocked and dismayed by what they hear. Awareness of the continuing problem of illegal persecution seems to be growing daily and is something for which your detailed, well-informed and measured posts can take significant credit. This is why, of course, you are so disliked and traduced by those who pay lip service, if that, to the law and to conservation in general.

  2. The professionalism and hard work that goes into this site is extraordinary – thanks for giving a voice to the many who have an utter contempt for the way our wildlife is slaughtered directly and indirectly in the name of ‘sport’. It’s a long war of attrition and you are winning.

  3. Keep up the good work.
They don’t like democracy do they?

‘As you might imagine, it has not been easy keeping the H&OT membership on side re BMS in face of the constant attacks from Mark Avery & CO’ (Philip Merricks to Rob Cooke NE)

‘There needs to be a pause for reflection in the current social media frenzy….. we cannot risk letting extremists force their agenda on upland management policy’ (Gift of Grouse statement on review into grouse moor management)

There has been much heated debate over this issue recently and it is essential that whatever action is taken going forward, it is based on evidence and clear thinking rather than any inherent prejudice against game shooting (SLE statement on review into grouse moor management)

    1. P.S. Of course there is nothing wrong with the SLE statement at face value but that isn’t what they actually mean. They mean ‘know your place, we know best so stop questioning us with science’

  4. Well done. I think this site does a fantastic job of exposing the true facts associated with raptor persecution.
Your efforts, tenacity and persistence are very much appreciated!

  5. Excellent work, you are making a difference, keep it up, it may take a while but we will break them down eventually.

  6. Well done. Your efforts are highly appreciated. Bet the dark side wishes it had something even a tenth as effective as RPUK.

  7. Well done Raptor Persecution, its so unfair our wildlife has no protection and very little justice.

  8. There’s little I can add to the comments above, but to use a more recent turn of phrase you guys are simply AWESOME and total respect for your achievements in challenging and exposing the criminality still rife in the uplands and in the lowlands.

Someone said recently that it is theirs to lose and they continue to assist the critical mass of the real conservation community. Much still to do but it is a matter of time ….

Well done, heartfelt congratulations on a fantastic, well deserved milestone:)

  9. Well done RPUK, I new little about the lawlessness on our hills or the wholesale slaughter of our wildlife, until I joined your site several years ago. Thank you so much for bringing it to the public domain.

  10. ‘It epitomises everything in its pitiful, poignant, senselessness ‘….The image of the Eagle, and the comments about it are perfect, priceless, and well chosen.

AN OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT FOR AN OUTSTANDING RPUK.

  11. Many congratulations on the milestone and very well done with the blog. I for one will keep following, acting on it and campaigning. I agree whole-heartedly with John Cantello and Les Wallace’s comments. We will see this through.

  12. Congratulations! Your tenacity, accurate, detailed and persistent coverage of these issues provides, on an ongoing basis, a highly valued, invaluable service.. a voice of reason, a record of events, a witness to complex and multifarious events. Thank you for all you do…

  13. Heartfelt thanks for the amazing role that you fulfil. We can only imagine the personal costs and effort which goes into the service you provide us with. Keep up the great work.

  14. That’s a lot! Worth saying so: awareness remains our big issue and it must be informed awareness to counter the lies and spin of the criminals and their sponsors. And that’s what you do so brilliantly, so a million views in the last year is excellent. Well done indeed and onwards!

  15. ‘Thanks’ barely seems to cover it, your contribution to the struggle has been immense and delivered with such a high quality of journalism. Awesome.

  16. At times you are the only thing that keeps me sane, I bet the the shooting lobby wishes they had such professionalism on their side.Well done and keep at it for Gods sake.

  17. I try and make a useful contribution when I can, but you and your team, if there is one, are doing a great job every day. We all owe you a great debt of gratitude and a huge round of drinks when we win! Cheers.

  18. Thanks for all the kind comments, but this wouldn’t work if people didn’t contribute material, read the blog, comment on it, and most importantly, share it. We’ve all played a part in getting this far.

  19. Raptor Persecution UK is an amazing voice for the protection of raptors from the insanity that prevails in the shooting industry.

Let us hope that as vigilance increases and scrutiny of the failing judiciary continues that you can make an inroad into the criminality and corruption that kills our wildlife.

Maybe the crooked law system that continues to blatantly protect the monied will be put in order, one day soon.

    Thank you for your commitment.

    Doug

  20. You must spend so many hours working and investigating to give us the proven truth of Raptor persecution in the uk, – a huge Thank You. If only you weren’t needed :(

  21. Excellent work, no beating around the bush, just clear, concise, investigative facts. I can only agree with all the other comments.
Keep up the good work, we all need your expertise in rooting out the nastiness that is raptor persecution.
3,003,022 hits this morning, on its way to 4 million!

  22. Well done !
When driven grouse shooting is eventually put into the dustbin of history & the work of re – wilding the uplands begins you will have played a major part in it.

    Keep up the pressure !

  23. Well done RPUK – you are a lesson in sustained action and regulating emotion.
That is such a sad picture.
It’s a long battle but if they think we’ll give up they are as stupid as I think they are…
