There’ll be an anti- grouse shooting protest walk taking place in the Peak District National Park this coming Sunday (16 August 2026), timed to coincide with the start of the grouse-shooting season on the Inglorious 12th.
Organised by the campaign group Reclaim Our Moors (see here for earlier blog on them), the one-hour walk, followed by speeches, will take place on Moscar Estate, meeting at 10.30am, and is open to anyone who wants to join in.

The Hunt Saboteurs are involved in a fight against gamebird shooting so this year might get interesting.
The Hunt Saboteurs have long been involved with opposing game bird shooting, especially during the traditional ‘off season’ for (illegal) fox and cub hunting… leaving a narrow window from the middle of August after the start of Grouse shooting but before Partridge shooting begins.
So, possibly more feet on the ground, as before, but not a ‘silver bullet’ on their own.
It will be the rising tide of public awareness of the pointless horrors of bloodsports, breaking through mass media indifference and gaslighting, which will bring its downfall… but also requiring politicians to grow a backbone and stand firm for the environment.
In that last respect, evidence from the many parliamentary petitions clearly show the most indifference to environmental issues (including blood sports) are firmly based in cities, and the more densely populated the city the stronger is that indifference:-( Hence, most MPs are not pressed on the matter:-(
