North Wales Police have confirmed that two men from Wrexham have been charged with illegally setting snares on Ruabon Moor, the only driven grouse moor in Wales.
Head gamekeeper Stuart Hart, 50, of Penycae, and underkeeper Jack Yates, 23, of Overton Road, Ruabon, are both charged with setting a snare to injure a wild animal.
Hart is charged in connection with two incidents that are alleged to have taken place on Ruabon Moor in August 2025 and July 2026.
Yates is charged in connection with an alleged incident in the same location in July 2025.
They will both appear before Llandudno Magistrates Court on 18 November 2026.
The use of snares is illegal in Wales, having been banned under the Agricultural (Wales) Act 2023.
I believe this blog post from October 2025 relates to some of the charges.
