Essex Police are appealing for information after the discovery of an injured peregrine in the Highwood area of Chelmsford on 15th January 2024.
The wounded bird was admitted to the South Essex Wildlife Hospital and on examination is believed to have been shot.
I’ve asked for information about the peregrine’s condition and asked whether an x-ray had confirmed the bird had been shot. I’ll update this post when I hear.

I hope the bird can be saved and the perpetrator found country is unbelievable I can’t believe the mentality of hurting or deliberately killing any thing. These birds are so beautiful and clever adaptable to city life why can’t people live and let live.Breaks my heart .
It’s well known that cruelty to domestic & wild animals and birds is not dealt with by force of the law servery enough.
Fines should be a minimum of 5k and prison for offenders minimum 2 years no question if found to be found guilty.
All living creatures are so precious to our planet we must treasure all of them.
