The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for poisoning a peregrine at Clee Hill, Shropshire has been doubled.
The male peregrine was found dead in a quarry on 15th June 2015 (see here). This is a notorious raptor persecution blackspot: two peregrines were poisoned there in 2010 and another one in 2011. All four peregrines (including the latest victim) were poisoned with Diazinon.
A generous donor has contributed to the original reward offered by the Shropshire Peregrine Group and the RSPB, and the reward currently stands at £2000.
If you have any information about this crime please call the police on 101 quoting reference #6495 of 15/6/2015.

£2000, while a very generous gesture on behalf of the donor, just is not enough for a location like that. It won’t even cover the costs of moving once the local mafia runs any informant out of town on a rail. Which group is the main suspect, no names obviously, but the general affiliation. I’ve got 50pence split on a farmer or a twitcher who thinks the raptors are taking the song birds.
Find out where the nearest pigeon racing loft is!
I never thought of that. I keep forgetting pigeon racing is still a thing, no lofts near me at all any more, but I googled and it turns out… Well, read the article yourself and form your own judgement. I suspect that posting any of my summations would just result in a post full of “xxxx”‘s and a note from “Ed:”.
