The Glen Orchy case against Tom McKellar continued at Oban Sheriff Court last Friday (27 July) with yet more legal argument.
You won’t be surprised to learn that sentencing has once again been deferred. Next court date is in early September.

If found guilty, I hope that the fine is large enough to re-compence the tax payer for the expence of this farce!
It would be nice to think the courts would take this approach, but you do get the feeling that a not guilty or not proven verdict will be issued.
The verdict already is guilty. He admitted the offence, but now some wriggling is taking place.
Looking back over the various posts I appear to have missed that he appeared at Glasgow HIGH COURT on the firearms charges.
He was found guilty OF ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A BROWNING AUTOMATIC PISTOL AND A WEBLEY REVOLVER – SENTENCED TO 300 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE.
The judge told him “There is no doubt you are an outstanding individual. However, you have accepted responsibility for serious offences involving prohibited weapons.”
“Outstanding individual” – Isn’t he just ……………??? Serious offences etc. seems to be something that should attract more than community service. Also, for the highest court in the country to hand out a sentence that is at the lower end of the scale empowered to the lowest court, i.e. Justice of the Peace court is rather peculiar, to say the least.
In an ideal world there would be a health and safety investigation into this. an employee has alledgedly knowingly been given an illegal substance to work with, It has been used in manor that could cause harm to the general public. his union representatives would be up in arms against his employers and supporting him, not blaming a third party of a witch hunt and the shooting media and major organisations would unite in their condemnation of how this outstanding person has been let down
