Extinction Rebellion at Dundee Airport to protest against grouse shooting

Whilst the Hunt Sabs were out disrupting grouse shoots in northern England yesterday (here), Extinction Rebellion were at Dundee Airport in Scotland to protest against grouse shooting.

This is the third year they’ve demonstrated with banners at Dundee Airport on the Inglorious 12th, aiming to coincide with the arrival on private jets of grouse shooters, heading from the airport to go shooting in the Angus Glens.

There are more photographs of the event on the Extinction Rebellion Dundee facebook page, including someone who looks remarkably similar to Maggie Chapman MSP from the Scottish Greens.

  1. Now that we’ve got a Labour government might it be a good idea to start a new petition calling for grouse moors in England to be licenced along the lines of the licencing scheme in Scotland, or petition for grouse shooting to be banned and settle for a comprise of licencing. The new Parliament has yet to set up a petitions committee so at they minute it isn’t possible to start a petition but this will change sooner or later. I think it would be best if one of the Wild Justice founders started the petition as they’ve got the knowledge to include as much science and references as possible but understand that they have busy lives so it might take them a while to find the time to do it.

      1. Fantastic!

I signed and shared the previous petition in 2016/17 but to be honest didn’t expect it to achieve anything with a Conservative government. Will happily do whatever I can to support another petition.
