What a brilliant way to promote wildlife and conservation issues as well as get the message out about persecution. It’s wonderful to see a school encourage compassion! Well done.
involving the children in this awareness of persecution will also get the message home to their parents. Great idea.

Its got to be a good thing bringing some awareness to the youngsters. Maybe they should be targeting the schools around the Grouse Moors!
The wealthy shooting landowners will make sure that doesn’t happen. The estates ‘serfs’, I mean ’employees’ children go to those schools and their parents will object to the truth being told to their kids. The landowners usually put a bit of cash in the school’s coffers and that settles that. Any dissent is soon nipped in the bud. After all most employees live in tied cottages – they’d not only lose their jobs but their homes as well if they didn’t keep their mouths shut and do as they were told.
I was exactly their age when I started learning about the wildlife in my own country which again and again and again was a story about being missing or very rare because of the huntin, fishin, shootin ‘legacy’ here – we’d even lost our red kites and polecats, the hills had lost their trees to red deer stalking as well as sheep and I had to wait until 1982 to see my first buzzard on a suburban housing estate in Gottingen West Germany. 43 years later and my 6 year old nephew has had a golden eagle ‘disappear’ practically a stone’s throw from his home in Currie. Our children are still missing out on the full beauty, wonder, magic of the wildlife we should never have lost – can’t believe that I’ve lived to see the tweed lot openly lobby for legalized raptor slaughter to protect their disgusting sport, or more properly just the thought it will help shoot birds for fun. Their arrogance, selfishness and insanity had never went away, it had just been lying quiet for a while. These children are the ones our politicians and society as a whole should be listening to, not the warped, blood spilling indoctrinated psychopaths. Well said Sunnyside pupils! Makes a change from my childhood in the 1950s having the Black Bob books read to us ..where the shepherd was fighting off the nasty vicious eagle attacking his lambs…in the Borders, where they had already been wiped out!
