A coalition of wildlife campaigners will be marching to Downing Street on the Inglorious 12th August 2017 to protest about the on-going cruelty and criminality against badgers, foxes and hen harriers in the UK countryside.
Key issues of this protest include the Government’s ineffective and costly badger cull policy, strengthening rather than appealing the Hunting Act, raising awareness of barbaric fox-cub hunting, and calling for a ban on driven grouse shooting.
Supported by all the major wildlife protection charities (including Badger Trust, LACS, IFAW, Born Free), the march will begin at Cavendish Square at 1.30pm before heading down Regents St, Pall Mall, around Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall, ending at Richmond Terrace opposite Downing Street.
Speakers will include Chris Packham, Dominic Dyer, Mark Avery and others.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I was dismayed to learn of the recent cull of Nesting Lesser Black Backed Gulls, apparently licensed by yourselves, on the Abbeystead Estate in Lancashire. The birds were shot on the nest leaving the young to starve or be predated.
There has been a dramatic decline in breeding numbers of this species and they have been placed on the RSPB list of special concern for a number of years. I understand that licenses are only issued on the basis of genuine scientific study and I would appreciate if you would kindly let me know what study has been conducted in this case and on what basis the license was issued.

What is so sensitive that you are unable to explain what the scientific rationale is behind this slaughter? Surely refusal to demonstrate open and transparent conduct of business is simply likely to encourage continued scrutiny and questioning?

Yeh, organised by the Scottish Wildlife Trust ,Angus and Dundee group, Jesus you couldn’t make it up. The bullshit will yards deep and those idiots will lap it up.
Not every member of the SWT is and idiot (thanks for that) but I agree this is a particularly stupid visit – the SWT, like the RSPB reminds me of the curates egg – good in places………………
Here we go, an attempt by a Wildlife Trust to get people to see for themselves, and perhaps forge an understanding between different approaches to environmental management. Go with an open and enquiring mind, not a closed and ignorant one. You might actually find the “yards deep” bullshit is stacked up on both sides of the fence… Neither approach is perfect, polarized sides will never be able to find a workable consensus, but that’s not what you want, is it? You just want your will imposed, which makes you as bad as the worst of the gamekeeping community.
And I’m just going to add, I will not come back to this to argue with the negative attitudes that will no doubt be expressed. I have better things to do with my time!

The mindless persecution of raptors on grouse moors in the interest of providing amusement for ruling class morons must stop. Close driven grouse shooting on estates found guilty of environmental crime. Imprisonment for those responsible.
