Bert’s Briefs….

An artist's impression of Bert's briefs. WARNING: may contain hazardous waste

In their latest attempt to gain support as the Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill reaches a critical stage, the Scottish Gamekeepers’ Association (SGA) has published, by their own description, ” a series of briefing notes for MSPs, setting the record straight on the most contentious issues as attacks escalate on the Scottish shooting industry”.

These notes are entitled “Bert’s Briefs” and have been prepared by none other than the SGA’s own Bert Burnett.

  1. Bert’s briefs, very funny!
I notice that Bert Burnett states that field sports raise £100’s millions in VAT each year. Even if that meant £200 million and VAT was 17.5% this would mean that field sports were worth £1143,857,100 ‘ish gross.
I wonder if the SGA scrutinise all their facts and figures so vigilantly?

  2. I’m sure we can expect more intellectual gems from the SGA. I read a newspaper article the other day in which Alex Hogg told a journalist that an animal in a snare is “almost like a dog on a lead”. Yeah, ‘almost’ being the operative word.
