An announcement has just been made that a new bill to tackle the growing problem of wildlife crime is to be introduced to the Scottish Parliament: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east_orkney_and_shetland/10276118.stm
It is not yet clear whether this will be an entirely new bill, or whether it will be included in the new Wildlife & Natural Environment Bill, which was presented to the Scottish Parliament earlierĀ this week: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2010/06/10091322
Either way, it is encouraging to hear that positive action is being considered. More news when it becomes available.

Good clear photo…if they are in fact poisoned birds…its worth giving folks a bit of fieldcraft here…
Quite often poisoned raptors will have clenched feet when found dead…probably as a result of convulsions….even alphachloralose can cause convulsions in its victims [which have certainly included golden eagles]…
But sometimes a poisoned bird will look perfectly relaxed…like the one on the right….
Do not trust anyone who tries to give glib absolute {“its always like this…”] opinions on such matters…theres a lot of charlatans out there…!
I think its grate somethings being done about it, just hope it works and cuts down poisenings
