Revive, the coalition for grouse moor reform in Scotland hosted a well-attended fringe event at the recent SNP national conference in Aberdeen, attracting enthusiasm and support from members just as it did at the SNP’s spring conference event earlier this year (see here).

Revive’s campaign manager, Max Wiszniewski has written a blog about the event (here) and how this time the focus was on the climate crisis, the extent of animal welfare issues and how the culture of intimidation on some grouse moors affects local residents and visitors alike.
It was great to see former Environment Minister Stewart Stevenson MSP chairing the session and local councillor Julie Bell (SNP Kirriemuir and Dean) participating on the panel.

Libby Anderson from coalition partner OneKind gave a preview of Revive’s forthcoming report called Untold Suffering. This report will be published shortly and makes for a harrowing read.

Why on earth are they killing hedgehogs?
They will eat eggs and chicks .
because they are wildlife and whats more fun and indeed brave, than killing it all. There is, or probably was, another list from the previous year, and another before that, so each year these sad individuals can write the list with ever increasing targets..just beat last years total and job done.
Because they eat ground nesting bird eggs. Game birds included.
Great to see the exposure to the SNP ranks. Let’s hope this translates into appropriate timely ACTION !
TIMELY is the operative word! STILL no sign of the Werritty Review! Until it is released the SNP are sitting on their hands and our precious wildlife is still short of the protection it deserves.
