  1. Trivialising something like this is just what you would expect from a ‘newspaper’ like this. Best if they were treated with the disdain they deserve.

    1. Hi Robert,

That’s one point of view. Another perspective is that this story, by being covered in The Sun, has probably reached an audience who might not otherwise be aware of illegal raptor persecution. This might be the introduction they need.

    2. Don’t be so disdainful, it would be wonderful to have this rag on our side ,even having a wee dig at the royals. It reaches millions of people, who all have opinions and (unbelievably ) votes.

  2. It’s actually hinting at something many suspect but few would have the guts to say in public for fear of libel action.

  3. To be honest, I thought the headline mildly amusing. Let’s not be too stuffy about it either, since, even if the headline was a “trivialising”, the article itself touches on all the relevant points. Whatever one may think of the Sun, the fact that they gave the story big block headlines and a whole page means that the story will reach a very large number of people. It’s a good thing, though, that it was Martin Hughes-Games who released the bird, not Chris Packham, as the ‘nasty brigade’ would otherwise use the episode to somehow attack him & the BBC!

  4. I seem to remember an incident at Sandringham, a few years ago, putting a dead raptor and one or the other prince or a guest together…
Perhaps the paper is making a reference…

  5. This could draw public attention to the story like nothing else will – it will have the “driven” grouse fraternity wondering how they should respond – if the story carries. No left-wing bias here !!

  6. This is actually manna from heaven. It doesn’t matter a jot if it’s a rather silly headline. It draws attention to the issue from a whole different audience. Some readers at least will wonder what it’s about, if nothing else. Every little nail helps.

  7. If corgis are used for cattle breeding I’d like to see the result.

    Definitely positive coverage, and amusing.
