The RSPCA is appealing for information after the shooting of three birds in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
A member of the public discovered a dead raven and a dead buzzard near Pen-y-Cae on 5 April 2017. They were taken to the RSPCA’s Merthyr Tydfil clinic where x-rays revealed they had been shot with a pellet gun (x-ray image by RSPCA).
An injured crow was rescued but later euthanised due to its injuries.
Local residents have reported seeing an unusual white van parked in the area around 5 April.

What sort of pellet gun, an air rifle ??, is this a Welsh Macnab ?? the plebs have been out again.
Looks like an air rifle pellet at the bottom left of the image. I’m just wondering if the three targeted species could rule out general “plebs”?
Yeah. I can believe your average schemie would take a pop at crows, although usually they go for seagulls and cats, but a buzzard seems a bit unlikely. Same as with the pigeon fanciers, buzzards and crows are not their usual targets. The mix seems to be specific to one profession. The choice of weapon is odd though, if it is an airgun. Maybe they are trying something new. Create a bit of obfuscation.
If the white van is linked and the airgun pellets are recent/cause of death – the xray photod looks like both shotgun and airgun, depending on angle taken, not unusual for such birds to get shot twice! – its not a gamekeeper, this time.
