Norfolk is becoming quite the raptor persecution hotspot….
Norfolk Constabulary are investigating two separate persecution incidents following the discovery of a dead sparrowhawk and a dying buzzard in February.
The sparrowhawk was found with gunshot injuries on 16th February by walkers on the Brisley Road in Whissonsett, near Fakenham.
One week later walkers heard shooting in Narford Wood near Swaffham and found the dying buzzard which had been shot.

Raptor Persecution UK 
Sadly raptor persecution is a major issue in Norfolk. As well the case reported here we have the ongoing case against Allen Lambert, former keeper at the Stody Estate. In spring 2014 two dead marsh harriers were found on land owned by a politically active coastal estate owner. These birds were subsequently found to have been poisoned. None of this was reported in the local press although the keepers house was searched along with that of a keeper on a neighbouring estate. A red kite nest was destroyed in the Brecks two years ago.
