  1. Far be it from me to criticise this splendid blog…but doesnt it say raptorpersecution”scotland” on the tin?

Yes…theres lots of raptor killing in England too…

  2. Maybe we should change the title to Raptor Persecution Great Britain, or maybe there’s room for setting up another series of blogs for England, Wales and Ireland. I don’t think there would be any shortage of topics for discussion, seems like the Raptor persecuting criminals don’t worry about borders anyway !!!

    nirofo.

  3. Have a care…at the moment when this is Scotland only, we can direct our rightful anger at the scottish justice system and the scottish parliament…if you start widening that out you will dilute the message…that Scotland is not enforcing its Laws and protecting its raptors.

We know that those responsible do watch this site…lets keep it that way.

England does have at least one similar blog – mainly based on the NW of England…http://raptorpolitics.org.uk….although there seems to be more than a hint of that well known english problem of infighting between conservation groups….something thankfully lacking on this site!…

  4. Dave – thanks for your comments, as always.

We’ve included reports of alleged raptor persecution incidents from other parts of the UK and from the Irish Republic, right from day one (see the Introduction page). Although our main focus is what’s happening here in Scotland, we feel that incidents in neighbouring areas are also of interest. Raptors don’t recognise political boundaries, nor do gamekeepers (we know there is a regular flow between estates in Scotland & England), and nor do game ‘managers’, some of whom ‘manage’ estates on both sides of the border – estates that have been investigated on both sides of the border, as you know!

Our site stats tell us that there is a large public interest in persecution reports, including from areas outside Scotland – for instance, our posts on the alleged activities at Holkham Estate are some of our most visited pages, probably due to North Norfolk being a well-known hotspot for the generalist birders. Far from diluting the message about what is happening up here in Scotland, we know that we are attracting new readers who might otherwise not have visited our blog.
