Police have begun an investigation into the possible poisoning of buzzards in the Scottish Highlands area of Badenoch.
Northern Constabulary said a member of the public had found a dead buzzard on an un-named (of course) sporting estate at the weekend. A follow-up search by the police led to the discovery of a second buzzard.
Tests are currently being carried out to determine whether the birds were poisoned.

Now thats odd…no cause of death yet and a press release out immediately…thus tipping off every keeper in Badenoch to hide their poison…??!
Methinks this investigation isnt going anywhere…for some reason.
Whats the betting we never get told the location , even if the bird is positively analysed…and no one is charged?
Just read the police appeal…it was found by someone shooting on the estate…so all the keepers in the area will already have been tipped off…
Now it makes sense…
I repeat…will we ever be given a location?…No…why? because they wont want to upset the nice estate….
But hey, maybe Im wrong and it will turn out to be a “poacher” or someone “whos got it in for the estate”…or some other fairytale…
Unless the whole thing is a PR stunt for shooters/the estate?….otherwise someone is very sure these buzzards were poisoned.
So many recent reports of recoveries of poisoned raptors on highland estates in recent weeks.
The legislation is continually being tinkered with, time for corporate responsibility. Make the owner, or even better the head keeper, responsible (although this would require some form of licencing to nominate who the head keeper is).
As things stand all these offences on large estates will fail as it must be virtually impossible to prove which keeper laid out a specific bait.
