New short documentary on British owls by student Ben Garrick

Ben Garrick is a young, talented third-year student of marine and natural history photography at Falmouth University and for his final year project he set out to find and film Britain’s owls.

He’s just released his beautifully-filmed short documentary on YouTube, to deserved rave reviews. It’s as much about the dedication and resilience needed to complete the project as it is about the owls.

Well worth a watch!

  1. So very well done. Loved the humour, I was so chuffed for him when he got all five! He will go far.

  2. I’m in Nidderdale at the moment ,on the lookout for Little owls, no success yet.Its a hard owl to spot as was said in the documentary, they look like part of the wall.Brilliant short film ,loved it ,Have seen all the owls ,even the long eared ,but not in a year!! Unfortunately Nidderdale is one of the areas where raptor persecution is well known ,even the locals are aware of the problem .More power to your campaign as l would love to see a lot more of our raptors and a return to more natural moors .

  3. Well done Ben; Beautiful photography, I liked the way you presented it, not too polished, but enough! My three favorite owls are Barn, Little and Long eared, But any will do!
I look forward to seeing more of your work and your humour!

  4. Thanks for sharing – this was excellent. Admired his commitment to completing this! In awe at all of the owls but the long-eared was just superb! Pleased he covered persecution rather than making it all “nice.”

  5. Terrific effort to make this documentary and well done.
The scripting is great and I love the humour.
    Keep up the good work.
    Doug
