It’s been seven months since 22 birds of prey (16 red kites and six buzzards) were illegally killed in a mass poisoning incident near Conon Bridge, Ross-shire.
Here’s an imaginary update from the police:
No arrests.
No charges.
No prosecution.
No justice.

Raptor Persecution UK 
Complete apathy on the part of police at best, at worst it sounds like they are actively avoiding applying the law and seeking justice. It makes you wonder why.
Criminals protected by wealth and power. We must be vigilant and report any information we gain.
In my other shoes, I am a canoeist and although Scotland has opened their waterways, England and the fishy folk are doing their utmost to exclude all but anglers from the rivers.
I have no respect for the bullying, criminals that use their wealth and social position to try to return to the “peasant and them” situation of old.
I’ve seen the call….’we will win’….from some quarters since the recent Hen Harrier Day, but the confidence is by far more confident than mine, and reading about this apparent 100% inaction by the law re the ‘Ross-shire Massacre’ strongly confirms my doubts.
From what I have read, many people seem to know who the culprit(s) is(are) so how come nothing has been done a bout it? The perpetrator of this crime must be a VIP.
The police either do nothing or make sure no meaningful evidence is secured for the vast majority of crimes against birds of prey, especially on the shooting estates, which amounts to most of them. What makes you think the Conon Bridge case will be any different, can you think of any particular reason why the police should appear to be, (correction), ARE so uselessly inactive on such a well publicised Raptor massacre ???
In this instance it really is a shame we can’t prosecute based on circumstantial evidence alone. If that were so, this person would have been banged up months ago!
As it is, we have to wait for either a confession, some hard evidence or someone to come forward with information. I have reiterated in the local press recently that the reward money is still available, and if anyone is ‘sitting on a dark secret’ to come forwards. Apart from crossing the line of the law ourselves it is all we can do…..
