Buzzard-killing video – WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT

Further to our earlier story (here) about gamekeeper Colin Burne, convicted for trapping buzzards and clubbing them to death, the RSPB has now posted the unedited version of their covert video surveillance.

Burne clubbing buzzard to death

  1. Colin Burne and his like are nothing more than contemptible scum. I would gladly take a stick to him, illness or not he should have been sent direct to jail.

  2. Bastard should have been jailed, does not matter if he is terminally ill. He did not show any mercy to the trapped Buzzards but he could have very easily let them go. “He” got mercy from the Judge. “He” does not deserve it.

  3. Is this the face of modern shooting in Britain today, another 60+ year old gamekeeper with no regard for the law of the land, clubbing to death birds which bring much joy to other people for his own selfish reasons, in the belief his rich employers might get to shoot a couple more pheasants out of the average 2% taken by Buzzards, even though they only expect to shoot 50% of what they release. We are regularly told by the shooting media that gamekeepers are the true guardians of our wildlife, yet week by week we see stories like this and worse, how long can you bury your head in the sand, you lose a couple of poults to buzzards so what, they reduce corvid and sparrowhawk densities thus increasing songbird populations, what part of this don’t you understand! Your predecessors killed buzzards simply to fill the giblet, to show their boss they had been busy, there is not the need these days, if there’s too many buzzards its because you keep killing the Goshawks because they take the odd pheasant, goshawks reduce buzzard densities, its time the shooting industry rallied together to put a stop to gamekeepers screwing up our wildlife.
